Catholic Relief Service – This is the international outreach of the American Catholic Church. A friend of mine visited a CRS site in India. Not only was great work being done, but I was being lead by a Hindu man. CRFS understands that they don’t have all an answers, but instead work closely with the local community to mean their needs in the best way possible. Right now they have projects in over 80 countries.
Catholic Campaign for Human Development – This is the American Catholic Church’s outreach here in the US. ” Since its start thirty-five years ago, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) has worked to transform lives and communities, focusing steadily on breaking the cycle of poverty in thousands of communities across the United States.”
Locks of Love – LoL provide hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children 18 years and younger suffering from long-term medical hair loss. This is where my last two hair cuts have goon.
Heifer International – HI provides families in need all over the world with animals to help raise the standard of living for the family. The livestock bringing with it the benefits of milk, wool, draft power, eggs and offspring to pass on to another farmer.
One Family Outreach – This is the work of my friend Jerry. In his work he serves the those on the edge, primarily former and current gang members and prisoners. Jerry is who I want to be when I grow up.
Santa Maria Foundation – SMF is the US fundraiser for the school and orphanage Santa María del Mexicano, I.A.P. (Institución de Asistencia Privada) de Colón, Querétaro. I have met these kids and those who serve them in the Mexican desert. They have stolen my heart. I look forward to the day I can return.
